What
is the best channel to use when using the FM Transmit feature?
The best channels to use for FM transmission are the channels not used
by local radio stations. These channels do not have any radio content
when you tune into them. Note that the quality of sound on an FM radio
will not be as good as the sound you get when you listen to tunes on your
Aireo with the headphones plugged in. When Aireo transmits music to FM
radio, the quality of the sound is dependent on the quality of the stereo
that Aireo is broadcasting to and the clarity of the frequency you selected
to broadcast on.
How
do I find the best FM channel to transmit on for my car stereo?
Aireo has a built in feature to assist in finding the best channel
to transmit on. The SCAN feature automatically locks into the clearest
signal. If the signal is not as clear as you want it to be, you can also
manually change the FM frequency.
Using SCAN to Change the FM Transmitter Frequency
Plug in your headphones.
Note: Aireo uses them as an antenna to find the best signal.
If you are in a car, place Aireo as close as possible to your car's antenna
for the best reception.
Press the MENU button to display Main Menu on your Aireo player.
Select Preferences on the Main Menu and press the Play/Select button.
Select FM Transmitter on the Preferences menu and press the Play/Select button.
Select SCAN and press the Play/Select button. SCAN finds the quietest frequency by searching across the whole band.
Changing the FM Transmitter Frequency Manually:
Press the MENU button to display Main Menu on your Aireo player.
Select Preferences on the Main Menu and press the Play/Select button.
Select FM Transmitter on the Preferences menu and press the Play/Select button.
Select Set Frequency and press the Play/Select button.
Start from low frequencies and work up the band using the < LEFT or RIGHT > buttons to change the FM Transmitter frequency.
What
is the range of the FM stereo transmission on my Aireo?
Transmit power is strictly limited by the FCC, Part 15 regulations.
Aireo transmits at the maximum allowable power, which allows a range of
15-25 feet. Of course, the range is subject to environmental issues including
other radio broadcasts, obstructing objects and the orientation of the
device.
Some of my music sounds distorted when played over my (car)
stereo. How
can I correct this?
Each CD can come with a unique amplitude (volume). A Playlist Manager
(PLM) may change the amplitude setting to its default standard or the
user may adjust it to their own preferences when creating a playlist.
Because of these amplitude differences, the audio can be over-driven leading
to distortion. The FM Transmitter Level control allows compensation for
these affects.
To correct distortion, try:
Lowering the FM Transmitter Level, until your music is clear.
Lowering all Aireo equalizer settings.
Turning off the Aireo Equalizer and use your stereo's equalizer for the most consistent performance.
Can the windshield on my car block the FM transmit
feature on my Aireo?
Some windshields have a metallic film that blocks the FM transmit signal
from Aireo to your car's antenna. Look at your windshield carefully. If
it has brown or reddish tint or a fine grid pattern, the windshield may
contain metallic film. Contact your car dealer to be sure.
